Bill Englehart grew up in smoggy Pittsburgh PA and watched the “Iron Curtain” Steelers win 4 Super Bowls in the 1970s. At the age of 14, after watching a Billy Graham telecast, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. Bill earned a BA in English and Religion at Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA, and preached at a city rescue mission. Following God’s call to pursue Christian service full time, Bill attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL, and earned a Master of Divinity while serving at a United Presbyterian church in Chicago. After graduating from TEDS, Bill moved out to Hawaii and spent three years serving with Youth With A Mission. During these mission years, Bill shared the Gospel of Christ with people in French Polynesia and many other Pacific islands. Another very important thing that happened during these mission years was that Bill met his wife, a missionary from Hong Kong also serving in YWAM. Bill & Sandie (Chan Lai-Ping) were married in 1987, prayed about God‘s direction, and they attended Alliance Theological Seminary hoping to become missionaries with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. After two years of service at Queens Christian Alliance Church, Bill became Rev. William Englehart - ordained in the C&MA - but they didn’t make it to the overseas mission field. God had another plan. Rev. Englehart, Sandie, and newborn daughter, Tamlyn, moved to New Jersey in 1991. Rev. Englehart worked as an English pastor in a Chinese church for several years and was blessed with two more children, Taryn (1992) and Timothy (1996). Desiring to try something new and consider God’s leading in another direction, Pastor Bill became an middle/high school English teacher at Zeraphath Christian School for two years and then tried public education. During these teaching years Pastor Bill worked with an organization called VisionQuest which is a ministry dedicated to maturing English ministry in Chinese churches. Public schools became a closed door for “Mr. E” and when he discerned God’s call back to full time ministry a door opened up a WCEC in 2003. "Pastor Bill enjoys hiking up mountains to get closer to God."
