WCEC Awana Club Standards for Sparks (K-2nd grade)

1. Doors open to clubbers at 7:20pm. Clubbers should hang up their coats and then go directly to their handbook rooms to deposit handbooks and Bibles. Club starts at 7:30pm and ends at 9:30pm.

2. Care and respect should be shown for church property. Pushing, shoving, and roughhousing are not allowed. Respectful language is ALWAYS expected.

3. Running is allowed only on the Game Square during certain games. For the safety of each clubber, sneakers must be worn in order to participate in Game Time. Sandals, flip-flops, cleat, or crocs are NOT acceptable.

4. Chewing gum, phones, CD/MP3 players, and other personal items should be left at home.

5. Uniforms, handbooks, and team shirts may be purchased when clubbers have completed their entrance booklet. Upon receiving the uniform and team shirt, the clubber should wear these to every club meeting. Awards are presented only to clubbers in uniform. Each clubber is expected to bring in $30 for dues for the year. These dues are used to purchase ONE handbook, snacks, materials, and supplies for each club. Dues are not tax-deductible, and are non-refundable. Uniforms are purchased separately. Uniforms promote unity and fellowship, and are therefore strongly encouraged. Ms. Amy, club secretary, will be collecting all checks - please note, we cannot accept cash this year (except for donations to the mission fund or Adopt-A-Club).

Replacement Handbook$10 each
Sparks uniform vest$13 each (if new one is needed)
T-shirtfree will donation (suggested $5 per shirt)
Yearly dues$30

(Please make all checks payable to “WCEC” and write “Awana” on the memo line.)

6. When quiet is needed, the commander, director, or leader in charge will begin counting to five (the "five-count"). All leaders and clubbers should join in the counting and then wait quietly for instructions.

7. The "three-count" is used for individuals not following club behavior standards. If a clubber receives three warnings in one meeting, he or she will be sent home for the night. Clubbers who are sent home may return if they agree to abide by club rules. The commander will determine whether the clubber will serve a one- or two-week suspension from club. In an extreme situation or where harm is being done, a child will automatically receive 3 counts and be removed immediately.

8. Game Time is a privilege, and may be revoked for a night for bad behavior by the commander or director.

9. Each section must be passed in one sitting. A maximum of two helps per section is allowed. Clubbers may pass a maximum of five sections in one meeting. The first three sections are worth 1000 points each, the last two 500 points each.

10. Address Awana workers respectfully: Mr., Mrs., or Miss.

11. Awana clubbers are encouraged to regularly attend club and Sunday school.

a. If the club is full, those children who desire to be a part of our club will be placed on a waiting list and notified when space is available.
b. Those children with 3 consecutive unexcused absences will give their spot up for another on the Awana waiting list. An excused absence requires a note from the parent/guardian. We welcome you to return, although you may have to be placed on the waiting list.

In case of inclement weather, please CHECK YOUR EMAIL or our website to find out if there is a meeting.

You will NOT receive a phone call if Awana is cancelled.
